Blake Lively seems to have shared two conflicting narratives when it comes to knowing who It Ends With Us author Colleen Hoover was before she began filming the movie – as she shared two conflicting narratives in two separate interviews.
Lively, who is currently entangled in a legal drama with co-star Justin Baldoni, starred as lead Lily Bloom in the film, based off of Hoover’s 2016 novel.
However, it’s unclear whether or not Lively was familiar with the famed author when she decided to take on the project.
In an official cast interview filmed this summer, which was later posted by TheMovieReport.com, Lively, 37, admitted that she ‘hadn’t heard’ of the author before.
‘I felt like I lived under a rock, because I hadn’t heard of Colleen Hoover before they came to me with this movie,’ the former Gossip Girl actress shared during the interview.
She explained that she was sitting in a car with her friend Eden, 25, when she got the call about the movie, and Eden ‘shrieked’ with excitement.
‘I thought, that’s so interesting that a 25-year-old who has access to every bit of information possible, everything you get on social media apps, all the streaming, all the optionality, you know, here’s this name of this writer that cut through, that was interesting to me…’ Lively explained.
‘So now, when the whole world is open to you, for a name to cut through like that to a younger generation really made me perk up,’ the actress continued.

Lively shared that Eden then said that all of her friends had read the book, although she hadn’t read it herself.
She recalled then going into a bookstore in the small town that she was in at the time and seeing it covered with Colleen Hoover books and branding.
‘I read the script that night, and I just so fell in love with Lily, and I just wanted to tell her story so much,’ Lively said.
However, in another interview filmed by Sony Pictures and posted on Instagram for the movie’s promotion alongside the author, Lively claimed that she was thrilled when she heard Hoover’s name.
‘The reason that I was excited to do this movie is that I saw the mention of your name, and I was like, oh, wow, her voice resonates with people, how she tells stories, and what she’s telling reaches out and grabs so many people,’ the Another Simple Favor star said.
‘And then I fell in love with Lily, I wanna play this woman because I understand why she experiences what she experiences,’ Lively continued.
‘There was an authenticity to it that’s really powerful.’
DailyMail.com reached out to Lively’s representative for comment.

The resurfaced interviews come as the star is battling Baldoni in a bitter legal feud.
In December, Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni, accusing him of sexual harassment and launching a smear campaign against her.
She claimed in the lawsuit that Baldoni had entered her trailer while she was topless, showed her graphic video of his wife giving birth, and bit and sucked on her lips during an improvised kissing scene.
He responded by filing a $400 million lawsuit against Lively, and also sued The New York Times for $250 million, claiming it ‘relied almost entirely on Lively’s unverified and self-serving narrative, lifting it nearly verbatim while disregarding an abundance of evidence that contradicted her claims.’
The feud has only grown to be more explosive, as Baldoni released raw footage from the movie set and even a website with documents related to the suit in an attempt to clear his name, and Lively recently subpoenaed cell carriers to look for more receipts in her ongoing legal battle.
Lively has since amended her lawsuit, adding text messages sent to a friend where she called Baldoni a ‘creep’ and alleged that the actor had asked an ‘intrusive’ question about her and Ryan’s sex life while filming controversial movie It Ends With Us.
Baldoni, Lively, Reynolds and the New York Times have all denied the allegations against them in the lawsuits.
