In a heated on-air exchange with Good Morning America host Michael Strahan, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt left viewers buzzing, earning herself a bold new nickname.

Leavitt’s sharp defense of President Donald Trump’s push to bring federal employees back to the office sparked widespread reactions, with supporters now calling her the “grim reaper” of broadcast news.

During Wednesday’s interview, Strahan raised concerns that demanding a full-time return to the office could drive away experienced government doctors and scientists.

Strahan expressed concerns that government doctors and scientists would leave their jobs  rather than return to work five days a week in their offices

“Is there any concern that we risk losing people with years of experience like doctors and scientists?” Strahan asked.

Leavitt fired back, “Most doctors working in hospitals and medical institutions have to show up in person.”

The moment quickly went viral, racking up over three million views on social media. Fans rallied behind Leavitt, with one user on X declaring, “Karoline Leavitt just took another soul on live TV. She’s like the fake news’ grim reaper.”

Another supporter chimed in, calling her a “stone-cold killer” on the path to “legend status.”

This is not the first time Leavitt has made headlines. At 27, she holds the distinction of being the youngest press secretary in U.S. history. On Tuesday, she announced a shake-up in the White House press briefing room, offering seating to new media outlets, influencers, and content creators.

“Whether you’re a TikTok creator, blogger, or podcaster, if you produce legitimate news content, you can apply for press credentials at this White House,” Leavitt stated. Within hours, over 7,400 people signed up.

Leavitt’s rapid rise in the political sphere comes with personal sacrifices. She recently celebrated the birth of her son, Niko, with her husband, Nicholas Riccio. Despite the challenges of balancing motherhood and a high-profile role, she remains dedicated to her job.

Her commitment was evident when she returned to work just three days after President Trump survived a gunman’s attack at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania.

“The president literally put his life on the line to win this election. The least I could do is get back to work quickly,” she said in an October interview.

Leavitt continues to support Trump’s push for federal employees to return to the office, arguing that in-person work boosts productivity.

“Employees are more productive and efficient in an office environment,” she said. “The American people fund this government; they deserve employees who show up to work on their behalf.”

She highlighted that only six percent of federal workers in Washington, D.C., currently work full-time in their offices.

“This government has been wasting millions on empty office spaces. These buildings are beautiful and historic. They shouldn’t sit empty,” Leavitt added.

Trump recently offered federal employees a buyout option with full pay and benefits until September if they choose to resign by February 6th.

Leavitt’s fiery demeanor continues to resonate with Trump supporters. One fan noted the challenge of balancing toughness with grace, tweeting, “It gets tougher when you need to be gracious to those who wish the worst for you. But she does it well. We love Karoline Leavitt.”
