Photos Reveal Jennifer Aniston’s $15 Million Montecito Home Is Nearly Complete—More Than 2 Years After She Bought It From Oprah Winfrey

Jennifer Aniston‘s future Montecito, CA, abode is finally nearing completion—nearly two years after she purchased the sprawling $15 million estate from fellow Hollywood A-lister Oprah Winfrey.

The “Friends” star, 56, purchased the lavish Mediterranean-style farmhouse from the billionaire in September 2022, according to multiple reports. The home, which was not publicly listed, changed hands in an off-market deal.

Winfrey, 71, who is a longtime resident of Montecito, had purchased the home as part of a larger 1-acre estate, for which she paid $10.5 million in 2021.

But just one year later, she sold that property in two pieces—one of which went to Aniston for $14.8 million, the other to the TV host’s longtime friend Bob Greene. Greene is understood to have paid $2.3 million for his portion.

When Aniston purchased the home, it offered four bedrooms and 3.5 bathrooms. She quickly got to work on a dramatic renovation, which now appears to be nearing completion, according to images obtained exclusively by Realtor.com®.

The photos show that a sizable swimming pool was added to the backyard in an area that was previously reserved for manicured lawns.

That pool area, which was dug in summer 2024, has now been fully constructed. Large white planting areas have been constructed around it and filled with lush plants.

The exterior of the property has also undergone a stark transformation, with the blue windows replaced by sleek, modern designs painted white.

The two balconies on the upper level of the home have also been given an overhaul, with new dark metal railings added to match the new patio doors installed on the ground floor.

Though the home does not yet appear fully completed, outdoor furniture has already been put in place, both in a raised patio area overlooking the pool and on the balconies.

Additionally, white curtains can be seen hanging inside one set of patio doors, while a white couch is visible through one of the other ground-level windows.

Now, it seems that workers are focusing their efforts on finishing the landscaping and pool area, with a large orange crane seen in the backyard beyond the pool moving around slabs of stone that are being used as steps down from the patio to the main garden.

The flower beds on that lower garden level have also been dug up to make way for new plants and florals, just in time for the summer season.

Aniston’s sizable new farmhouse is actually made up of multiple structures—an L-shaped main house, which backs onto the swimming pool and gardens; a small property that sits alongside the patio overlooking the pool and could well serve as a pool house, cabana, or even a guesthouse; and a garage, which creates a kind of U shape around the front parking area.

It’s unclear whether the actress has opted to add or remove any bedrooms inside the 4,320-square-foot home. What’s clear is that she has made some rather drastic changes to the overall aesthetic of the abode, both inside and out.

Details about the property itself have been kept under wraps. However, it’s understood that it was originally built in 1999 and offers views of the ocean.

Luckily, Aniston hasn’t had to wait out the construction in anything but the lap of luxury—instead continuing to reside in her lavish midcentury modern abode in Bel-Air, a home that she has owned for many years now.

The stunning dwelling—which sits on a 3.27-acre lot—somewhat dwarfs her Montecito abode, offering 10,186 square feet of living space, which includes seven bedrooms and 11 bathrooms.

The home served as the location of Aniston’s 2015 wedding to former husband Justin Theroux, which took place three years after she purchased the property for a jaw-dropping $20.9 million.

It was originally designed by architect A. Quincy Jones, but, much like Aniston’s new abode, it underwent an extensive renovation before the actress moved in.

According to Architectural Digest, Aniston collaborated with favored designer Stephen Shadley to renovate the home, being careful to maintain the original midcentury aesthetic.

The refresh included hand-painted wallpaper, silk rugs, and abstract paintings.

Other chic features include a lavish courtyard, gardens, landscaped terraces, an inviting pool, and a separate guesthouse.

In an interview with AD in 2018, Aniston opened up about the interior design process, gushing about how much she enjoyed helping to curate the spaces in her home.

“If I wasn’t an actress, I’d want to be a designer. I love the process,” she said. “There’s something about picking out fabrics and finishes that feeds my soul.”

As for what drew her to the home, Aniston explained that she initially shied away from the “dramatic” design touches, but ultimately decided that the home was too special to pass up.

“It had a very dramatic entry sequence that led to this massive front door painted in Chinese red,” she shared. “Aesthetically, it was the furthest thing from what I wanted, but I immediately had the sense that it could work. It’s hard to describe, but I felt a connection.”

Her own preferred aesthetic? “Sexy is important, but comfort is essential,” she revealed.

The actress added that when it came to the overall “flow” of the home, she wanted to ensure that “you have an experience” every time you turn a corner and enjoy unparalleled views from the home’s hillside location.

It is unclear whether Aniston plans to continue using her Bel-Air pad as her main residence, or if she has her heart set on a Montecito relocation when work is completed on her new home.

Whichever neighborhood she chooses will afford Aniston plenty of A-list company. In addition to Winfrey, Montecito is also home to Gwyneth Paltrow, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, and Katy Perry, while Bel-Air counts Chrissy Teigen and John Legend, Taylor Swift, and Kim Kardashian among its current and former residents.
