Djokovic beats Musetti, enters quarterfinals of Miami Open 2025.

Novak Djokovic continues his impressive form with hopes of winning the 2025 Miami Open.

Former world No. 1 Novak Djokovic asserted his strength with a 6-2 victory over Lorenzo Musetti in the 1/8 round match of the Miami Open 2025 this morning (March 26) Vietnam time.

Musetti is not an easy opponent for Djokovic, although the Serbian player has a dominant head-to-head record. The Italian player defeated Nole in their first meeting at Monte Carlo 2023 and more than a year later at Roland Garros, he made things difficult for the Grand Slam record holder and only lost in 5 sets.

However, in today’s match, Djokovic took full advantage of Musetti’s poor form with a series of insensitive situations. It was Nole who lost the break-point first in the first game, but his excellent return ability helped him revive strongly, breaking his opponent’s three consecutive service games to win set 6-2.

Djokovic continued to put on great pressure and soon got results with a break-point in game 2. The 37-year-old played very solidly after that, not giving Musetti any chance to make a surprise, even getting another break-point in the 8th service game, winning 2-0 overall.

After two consecutive Qatar Open and Indian Wells tournaments where he was stopped in the first round, Novak Djokovic finally smiled at the Miami Open. Nole even “conveniently” broke the record for the number of wins in ATP 1000 tournaments held by his great rival Rafael Nadal after defeating Camilo Ugo Carabelli in the round of 16.

Djokovic is expected to earn a large number of points for reaching the quarterfinals of Miami this year. Last season, the Serbian did not participate and did not have to defend any points. Nole’s next opponent will be the host country’s 24th seed – Sebastian Korda, who defeated “veteran” Gael Monfils after 3 sets in the round of 16.
